World Poker Tour Season 6: Results of the World Poker Open 2008
Held at the very elegant Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica County, Mississippi, the World Poker Open 2008 tournament ended in classic beauty en route to another highly successful season for the World Poker Tour. For six fruitful and colorful years, this prestigious tournament consistently contributed to the wealth and fame of the tour. Being one of the most popular and prosperous tournaments today, expect more great things to come from this very exciting and highly competitive poker spectacle.
From January 20 to 24, 2008, some of the world's best players have convened in the World Poker Open to capture the elusive title, as well as the fame and glory that go with it. Each of the participants for this event was required to pay a buy-in amounting to $10,000, plus a $300 entrance fee, for a bigger prize pot to be won at the end of this poker tournament. Just like in the past seasons of the World Poker Tour, the tournament ended successfully with lots of exciting twists and turns all throughout the course of the event.
From the huge number of participants who started out at the World Poker Open, only six outstanding and lucky players were able to make it and qualify for the final table match. Aside from the great show that these young and highly promising poker superstars provided, spectators were also treated to an excellent display of showmanship from some of these highly skilled poker players. While each of them lived up to their titles as poker professionals, only one was declared as champion and winner in the end.
Right from the very beginning of the World Poker Open final table, each fan and spectator has their very own favorites to root for throughout the entire course of the poker tournament. Topping off the list of highly favored poker players are Hoyt Corkins, Men Nguyen, and Brett Faustman because of their rich background and accomplishments in the game. Furthermore, many people are also rooting for the likes of John Spadavecchia, Gabe Costner, and Freddy Deeb to emerge as champion in the end.
Equipped with the proper determination and the much-needed composure, each finalist of the World Poker Open showed no signs of weakness. Despite the overwhelming presence of their equally or much talented opponents, each of them perfectly employed their strategies and skills. However, no matter how great things are going for everyone, things would eventually come to end, as some moves are just more superior to others.
The elimination process was smooth as usual, with less skilled players getting beat on by the better players. At the early rounds of the World Poker Open, the mistakes committed by Spadavecchia proved too costly for him as he gets eliminated first from the poker tournament. The second and third players who get ousted from the match are Costner and Deeb respectively. In a very short while, Nguyen also found himself out of the title contention, leaving Faustman and Corkins for the final face off. At the final round of the game, Faustman emerged on top with an impressive title win and $892,413-pot to take home.
